Fellow

The rank of Fellow of the American Association for Anatomy (FAAA) is designed to honor distinguished members who have demonstrated excellence in science and in their overall contributions to the anatomical sciences and to the association. 

Criteria and Eligibility

  • Must be a member of AAA for 4 or more years.
  • Submission of Candidate's CV documenting evidence of outstanding scholarship, and statement of service or contributions to AAA.
  • Members who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship, whether as excellence in research or teaching, are eligible to be named a Fellow. Service to the Association is required and will be considered.

Reviewed by a group chosen from the Fellows Circle

Selection and Review Process

  • Independent scoring (1-5 scale) in each of three (service to AAA, contributions to the anatomical sciences, and excellence in science) criteria
  • Meeting to discuss
  • Consider representation issues (consider previous five years)
  • Consider limits on number of current FAAA
  • Recommend final candidates to the AAA Board for approval

Timeline

  • Nomination Deadline: Friday, November 14
  • Nomination Review Deadline: Friday, December 5
  • Notifications: Monday, December 29 - January 5, 2026

 

In addition to the honor of becoming a Fellow, all recipients will:

  • Be recognized at the Annual Meeting.
  • Become a member of the Fellows Circle.
