Community and Belonging Committee

In alignment with the Strategic Plan and its priorities, develop and execute AAA Board-approved initiatives that promote and achieve outcomes for individuals that face gaps and barriers within the membership. Create opportunities for all to feel welcome and engaged in the association and the anatomical sciences. 

The committee must fulfill all responsibilities and committee activities while complying with the association’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and all other policies in place at the time of service.

Responsibilities

  • Develop inclusive programming, webinars, etc., in line with the strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with Committee Chairs to partner, when possible, on programs and ensure cross-communications regarding all AAA activities.
  • In conjunction with AAA staff, design and propose a means/tool to improve the measurement of the impact activities.
  • Develop webinars and other resources aligned with the strategic plan to promote and support members in the anatomical sciences.
  • Review awards as approriate.

  • Be an active member in good standing.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive programs and creating opportunities for all.
  • Be willing to participate actively in committee activities.

Reporting

  • The Committee Chair makes a report to the Board at least once a year.

Schedule

  • The Committee shall hold video conferences as needed and may meet during the Annual Meeting.

Composition

  • 12 members including the chair, and either the incoming or immediate past President.
  • Committee members serve 3-year terms, and the chair serves a 2-year term.

Application Process

  • Applications are solicited annually through a Call for Volunteers.
  • Applications are reviewed and scored by the committee chair and outgoing members; scores, demographics, needs of the committee, and comments from the reviews are taken into consideration when choosing new members
  • New committee members are chosen and are then approved by the full Board of Directors.
  • After Board approval, notifications are sent out. Feedback is given if requested by the applicant.
