AAA is working to increase accessibility at our annual conference

You may use built-in PowerPoint tools to check accessibility. Presenters are reminded to implement accessible fonts and color schemes in their presentations (see links below).

The conference center will have access to: 

  • quiet room with low lighting and reduced sensory stimulation
  • lactation respite room secure refrigerator for medications
  • scooter rentals to aid with mobility

Universal Design for Anatomists

Webinar with Speakers Dr. Kathleen Muldoon and Dr. Heather Smith

This presentation will provide an introduction into universal design followed by a discussion of accessibility in the anatomy classroom, conference posters/presentations, and scientific journal articles. Dr. Kathleen Muldoon is Professor of Anatomy and the 2023 National Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) Northup Educator of the Year. Dr. Muldoon has served or led several academic and state committees relating to diversity advocacy and disability services. Dr. Heather Smith is a Professor of Anatomy and Fellow of the American Association for Anatomy. Dr. Smith serves as the Editor-in-Chief of The Anatomical Record, an official journal of the AAA, where she supports authors in making their research accessible to a broader audience.
