Before wrapping up 2023, let me give you a quick update on a few conversations the board recently held at its December meeting.
First, I had convened a few task forces last spring to review our committees, award programs, financial workflow, and nominating process to foster diverse leadership and equal opportunity for our members. Here are some of the recommendations that were adopted by the board:
- Fine-tuning the scope of a few committees to better serve our members and support the execution of the strategic plan
- Maintain our current 10 ad-hoc committees to help the board perform its work
- Balance award cycles to maintain annual fiscal responsibility
- Engage with consultants to promote best practices for leadership nominations and elections
- Create risk assessment for programs and awards to ensure maximum member benefit
We also spent time brainstorming on how to better connect with all of you. As we are transitioning to 2024, I hope to engage in more direct conversations with you and get your feedback on our programs and services.
